Philip's 2 month check-up

We had Philip's 2 month check-up in July and could not believe the scales!  Our little brown-eyed boy is already weighing in at 11 lbs 15 oz - just 1 oz shy of 12 lbs.  He has doubled his birth weight in just 2 months (while the average for most babies is 4 months).  What can I say... he is a Brosseau boy for sure - he doesn't miss a MEAL!  He also was 24 inches long and measured up to be in the 90th % for his height.  With his Papa Doc, Grande, daddy and uncles all between 6 feet and 6'5"... I don't know what else we could expect.  Phil of course is estatic and one thing's for sure... this is going to be a big boy and he is growing like a weed!

Beaches, Beaches and more Beaches

Well I should have known, since Philip is my son... that he would be a beach bum for sure!  My mom, Philip and I went to my grandmommie's condo at Pinnacle Port (Carillon Beach/Panama City Beach) just the three of us for a fun little relaxing getaway in July.  We of course had a blast and didn't want to come home...  the week started when we went to the "Groovin on the green" concert in Carillon on Monday night and Philip loved it so much that he was even up on stage dancing with the blues brothers.   The night ended with Philip sleeping 11 hours straight through the night for his first time ever.  When I told Phil about it, he asked if I was the most well rested in months... I said, "are you kidding, I didnt get any sleep - I was up all night checking to see if he was still breathing"... oh the joys of motherhood.  I also told Phil the next day when he slept through the night again that he might have to hire a police escort to get me out of the condo since Philip was sleeping through the night... isn't it funny how the simple things in life become so important again when you have a little one around?!  But this was just the first of many long sleeping nights... ever since our first night at the beach, Philip has been sleeping 11-12 hours a night.  I don't know why Phil and I were so worried about him sleeping... afterall with us as his parents - he had to be a good sleeper... we love to sleep more than just about anything!  The next day, we took Philip swimming for his first time in a big pool... he loved it and loved even more kicking his little feet and splashing the water.  I think however he got a little upset towards the end as he confused swimming with bathtime and all that was going through his little mind was "get me naked now" which we of course didn't do until we got back to the condo and had a real bath.  Then, we took Philip to Seaside and of course had lunch at the famous Bud and Allys on the beach.  He loved it and was the cutest baby boy in town... but then again I am his mother so I probably would say that!  We also of course had some lazy afternoons on the beach... and Philip slept like a little baby in his infant cabana tent in the shade listening to the sound of the waves (Does he have the life or what?!) On the last night, we rode up and down the PCB strip to look at all the activity and Philip was already hanging out the window with his hands in the air... by the time he is a teenager there will be no telling what this little boy is getting into.  And last but not least, we had a wonderful time at night just watching the sunset on the beach... it truly was a trip to remember.  Thank you so much grandmommie and granddaddy for letting us go to the condo (or to your cacoon as my 3 year old niece Alli calls it).  After a wonderful week... we headed home and Philip was passed out in his car seat with his lovey dreaming of course about nothing else but our next trip to the beach!

Hey, look at me... I'm up on stage with the Blues Brothers at the Groovin on the green concert
Are ya'll going to let me sing or what?!
Our little sleeper...

Kiss it mommy... that little boy just splashed water in my eye
Okay... so this is fun but I am getting sleepy
Me and my Gigi just swimming
Okay mom, so when do I get to get naked... isn't this my bathtime?
So this is Seaside... that is great and all - but when do I get to eat?!
Just snoozing in my cabana on the beach... now this is the life!

Look, my toes are sinking in the sand... this is so fun!
Can I sit in it too?
Leaving our Footprints...
... in the sand
ZZZZZ... when do we get to go back to the beach?!

Texie... a man's best friend

Tex, our golden retriever, absolutely adores the newest addition to our family.  He of course was mine and Phil's first baby... until Philip came along but he doesn't mind sharing us at all. In fact, Texie loves his new little brother more than words can say... and I think he even loves him more than Phil and me (he must be taking after his Gigi, Papa Doc, Mimi and Grande).  He has become so extra protective since we brought Philip home from the hospital that he will even bark these days if the wind blows the wrong way outside.  He loves Philip and gets very upset with Phil and I if he hears the baby crying.  Tex runs around to find us frantically... its like he's saying, "mom, dad - are you going to get him - he's crying (as if we cant hear him)!"  Texie even lets Philip ly on the ground and pull his ears and he just lays there as calm as can be... what can I say... a dog is a boy's best friend!

Philip's first trip to the GA Aquarium

A little boy always remembers his firsts' in life... and boy was this a weekend to remember! Philip's Grande and Mimi flew in from Dallas to spend the weekend with their precious little grandson.  Mimi brought Philip a special gift which he immediately put on his head... it was his very own "Philip" hat!  Phil had a hat just like it when he was a little boy and from what I have heard never took it off.  He would wear it in his sleep, at bathtime, and even just around the house! So it looks like Philip is already following in his daddy's foosteps with his love of headgear now that he has his own Philip hat to wear!  The weekend started out eating mexican, a Brosseau staple, on a relaxing Thursday night. Philip played with his Mimi and Grande, showing them his rainforest playmat and loved the most putting his feet up on his Grande's belly and getting his night-time bottle and snuggling with his Mimi.  Then on Friday, we grilled out and Grande and Mimi and Papa Doc and Gigi were all there telling funny stories of our childhood... oh the things Phil and I have to look forward to with this little boy.  Let's just hope he isn't as accident prone as his daddy!  And then it was time... Grande, Mimi, Phil and I all took Philip to the GA Aquarium for the first time.  It was so much fun and Philip loved every minute of it!  He loved seeing all the bright colored fish and especially loved going through the tunnel tank in his Grande's arms.  It was such a blast that we all hated for the weekend to end - we love you Grande and Mimi and cant wait to see you soon in Big D!

Me and my Mimi
Me and my Grande
What do you think about my new hat...
Does it look too big?!

Mimi and Grande... I am sleepy after all that mexican food... let's go get some sleep
Look at me play on my rainforest playmat... it's one of my favorite activites

What are you two up to now... let's eat!
Papa Doc... you are so silly... let's talk golf!
Hurry up mom, dad, Mimi and Grande - what are we waiting for?  I'm all ready with my arms up to go see some fish!
Wow, Grande - look at all those fish!

Dad, do you have to put that thing so close to my face... I think you can still see me if you stand a few feet away too.

Me and my Mimi both love to look at fish!
This is such fun... can we stay forever?
